“Hay” en inglés

there is y there are significan “hay”. Se elige según lo que viene después: there is + singular, there are + plural. En conversación se contrae: there's a book.

Afirmativo

  • There is a book on the table.Hay un libro en la mesa.
  • There are three chairs.Hay tres sillas.
  • There’s a problem.Hay un problema.
  • There are many people.Hay mucha gente.

Negativo y preguntas

Negativo: there isn't (singular), there aren't (plural). Pregunta: invierte el orden → Is there…? / Are there…? Respuesta corta: Yes, there is. / No, there aren't.
